More teeth!

Walker now has a tooth! I noticed Monday that one of his bottom teeth was finally breaking through. I'm so excited for the little man, since it seems like the teething process has bothered him a fair amount.

Garrett now has three teeth, with the most recent addition of a top tooth that is just breaking through the gums.

Guess this means no more chewing on Mommy's fingers :)

9 month appt

The boys went to the dr today for their 9 month appt, which was the best one yet because they didn't have to get any shots! Everything looked great, the doctor said they were right on track. I was very surprised that for the first time ever, Garrett weighed more than Walker! Must be all of that yummy food he's been eating. Garrett weighed in at 18 lbs 11 oz and Walker was 18 lbs 9 oz. They were both 29 1/2 inches long. They were in the 20th percentile for weight and 80th for height. They still have tiny heads, only in the 10th or so percentile. We are so, so thankful for healthy boys and don't have to go back (hopefully) until the boys are a year old!

Twins Galore!

Today, we took advantage of having a day off for President's Day to meet up with our twin buddies! Hayden and Cole are almost 2 months older than Garrett and Walker and they came over with their mom, Meredith, to play. I met Meredith through the Moms of Multiples group when we were pregnant so we've had lots of opportunities to compare notes on raising twin boys. The boys had so much fun playing together and hopefully we can do it again soon!

Oh, and for those of you wondering, we set up a new play area for the boys off of the kitchen. They love it! And it's a soft, safe area for them to play without getting into trouble. Just what we needed :)

A Day at the Playground

On Friday, we took advantage of a nice February day and checked out one of the parks in Blacksburg. I had heard great things about Hand-in-Hand / Caboose Park, and it didn't disappoint! The boys LOVED swinging, and also enjoyed sliding, rocking on the little horse, and watching the other kids play. We will be going back there very soon!

The park is nicknamed Caboose Park because there is an actual train caboose there!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We really enjoyed our first Valentine's Day! We were spoiled with stuffed animals, books, and cards. No candy for us...maybe next year! It was a great day to celebrate all of the love that surrounds us. Love to you all!!

9 months old

Garrett and Walker are 9 months old! Nine months. That's 3/4 of a year. How is that possible? Weren't they just born? They have officially been in the outside world longer than they were in my belly. I must say, it has been the best nine months of our lives.

It is truly amazing the new things they are learning each day. They are both shaking their heads no, "dancing" to music, picking up finger foods and putting them in their mouths. Garrett is crawling on his belly and pulling up to his knees, while Walker is crawling everywhere (and he's quick!) and standing all the way up. "Ma ma", "bye bye", and "da da" are the words of choice right now. They are growing up right before our eyes, and it's so exciting!

Oh, and did I mention that it's very difficult to capture pictures right now? Walker rolls over immediately when you lay him down and Garrett reaches for the camera. So, not the best pics but still very cute!

Adventures in Eating

The boys have expanded their menu, trying a variety of new foods within the past few months. So far, they have liked nearly everything they have eaten, including salmon, blueberries, califlower, mango, broccoli, edamame, celery, cheese, spinach, raisins, beets, yogurt, and apricots. Most everything has been part of a puree, but we are expanding into more finger foods. They LOVE Mum-Mums, which are rice rusks that disolve easily. They also like puffs, yogurt melts, diced peaches, and shredded cheese.

Swimming

The boys are finished with their swimming lessons :( We all had a blast! They have done so well. They learned to go under water, float on their backs (with a little assistance), kick, blow bubbles in the water, "jump" in the pool, and various other safety techniques. They are both very comfortable in the water, which is wonderful. We might sign up for another round of lessons or just go to the aquatic center on our own. Gotta keep these water babies splashing!

Daddy missed last week since he was in Minnesota for work, but Auntie Jessica filled in since she was visiting. Auntie Jen was also able to go to take pictures and videos, so we have a lot from this lesson.

Walker and Lexie are buddies! He plays so great with her. I gave them a empty paper towel roll to play with and they both loved it...who needs to spend money on toys? :)

Garrett's "Scoot"

Who needs crawling? Garrett prefers to scoot, and he's very good at it! This video is a few weeks old and he started "army crawling" on his belly this past weekend. Watch out world, here he comes!
