Doctor Visit

Finally, we've had a enough of Garrett's excessive spitting up! He has been spitting up at least half of his food at every feeding, which results in a big mess, lots of changes of clothes and bibs, and constant feedings. So, we took him to the dr yesterday to get things checked out. The good news is that he is still growing despite the spitting up. He has gained almost 2 lbs in less than a month and now weighs 12 lbs 5 oz and is 24 1/4 inches long! Since the spitting up is not affecting his growth, the dr said we could try a different formula for supplementing to see if it helped. It's supposed to sit heavier in his belly so that it doesn't come back up. I will still nurse him, but we will use the formula too if it seems to help him. The next option would be to put him on Prevacid. So, we will see how the next week or two goes!

Since we were all there, we asked them to weigh and measure Walker too. He now weighs 13 lbs and is 24 3/4 inches long! He has continued to out pace Garrett with his growth, but hopefully his brother will catch up as soon as he starts keeping his food down. I can't believe they will be 3 months old on Friday! Crazy!

In other news, our nanny seems to be doing great so far. We both dropped in to visit Monday around lunch time and the boys were dressed, Walker was sleeping peacefully and Garrett was laying on his pillow with her talking to him. They both had some time on their play mats and she has been reading them stories. All of this while straightening up around the house. So far, so good!

Cute pics

Here are some miscellaneous cute pics from July that I failed to post...enjoy!

12 weeks...and a lot of milestones!

The boys turned 12 weeks old on Thursday. I can hardly believe that it's already been that long! They are growing and changing each day. Their smiles are more numerous and they are constantly making new discoveries. Garrett loves looking at his hands and seems amazed at the things they can do! Walker rolled over for the first time this week from his belly to his back. We were amazed!! And, most exciting of all (for us, anyway) is that they both slept for over 10 hours on Thursday night! They had been consistently sleeping for 6-7 hours straight each night but 10 hours was definitely a new milestone. They slept so long that I was awake at 5:30 waiting for them to wake up :) They also sat at the big dining room table for the first time in their big boy chairs, which recline for newborns and will sit up straight later on with a tray table that attaches for when they are big enough to eat by themselves. We are so proud of our little guys!

Sleeping through the night for the 1st time!
Isn't it sweet how they always end up right against each other?

Walker liked his chair so much that he fell asleep in it after finishing his bottle!

And some other random pics from the week of the guys just being cute:)

The end of maternity leave :(

Sadly, my 12 week maternity leave/FMLA ended this week and I had to go back to work. I was very sad to leave the boys, but very blessed that I only have to work 3 days a week now (Mon, Wed, and Thurs) and that I am close enough that I can come home to see the boys each day at lunch :) I am also very thankful that my mom was able to come up this week to keep the boys while I was at work. Thanks, Nana!!

We have hired a nanny to come to the house to care for the boys while I am at work, starting on Monday. Her name is Caroline. She is about 60 years old and is recently retired. She loves babies and the boys both seem to really like her! She has been to the house several times to see the boys and get acquainted with how we do things. We are hopeful that she will be a great long term caregiver for our boys!
As sad as I am to be back at work, I am thankful that the boys get to stay in their own environment. I feel comforted that they are asleep in their own crib each morning when I leave!

Walker rolling over!

Walker rolled over for the first time today! We had him laying on his play mat in the living room for tummy time, and he just rolled over onto his back! He did it three times in a row and Jim, Nana, and I all got to see it. What a great day!!

Big boy bed

Last week, we moved the boys upstairs to sleep in their big boy crib. They have done great! Of course, they are still sleeping in the same crib. We can't bear to separate them! And we have been sleeping upstairs with them as well. Here is a pic of them after a night in their crib:

And a not-so-great pic of the stars on their ceiling that are projected by their cool turtle:
And since the turtle goes off after a certain period of time, we also have to turn on their cool projector, which shows sea creatures, jungle animals, or cows and lambs, since Walker seems to be afraid of the dark. He has fussed when the turtle turned off on the nights that we only left it on! Here are the fishies swimming across the ceiling...
Maybe soon, we can move back to our big bed and rely on the video monitor to keep an eye on the boys. I miss our bed!!

Little flirt

I think we're in trouble! These little guys are learning to flirt with the ladies at a young age...and they like older girls :) Here's Garrett working his charm with Hannah...
And Mia as well...
Another funny story from Hannah and Mia's visit a couple of weeks ago:

Ashely: "Mia, do you know what that baby's name is?"
Mia: "No..."
Ashley: "That's Walker."
Mia: "But he can't walk!"

True, true....
